Recently, a wide variety of low-dimensional materials have attracted significant attention as platforms for exploring quantum phenomena driven by strong electron correlations and topology. Quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) systems are expected to exhibit especially intriguing properties, as electron correlations are strongly enhanced due to the restricted dimensionality and limited interaction channels. Representative quantum phases in such Q1D systems include charge-density-wave states and Luttinger liquid behavior. Moreover, topological aspects have recently emerged as an important theme in these materials. Despite these theoretical expectations, experimental investigations of Q1D materials have been severely limited. Single crystals of Q1D systems are typically extremely tiny and fibrous, which has hindered advanced spectroscopic studies, particularly those aimed at resolving their detailed electronic structures.

In this seminar, I will present our recent studies on Q1D transition-metal chalcogenides [1–3]. By utilizing improved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy techniques, we have successfully resolved the electronic structures of these materials and uncovered their complex phase diagrams. These Q1D systems provide promising platforms for studying quantum phenomena arising from strong electron correlations, topology, and their interplay. I will conclude by discussing prospects in the research field of these systems.
